P.  aComplement fixing antibodies for maedi in serum of sheep and goats in uttar pradesh.  c1975  aA study was undertaken with agents isolated from the lungs of sheep and goats affected by Maedi for complement-fixing (CF) activity with antiserum for the Icelandic strain of Maedi virus. The CF titer was 1:32. A survey for CF antibodies in the sera of sheep and goats from government farms, private flocks and slaughterhouses indicated evidence of widespread infection. Correlated study for macroscopic lesions of Maedi and CF antibodies gave differing results. The percentage of positive animals and CF titer increased with advancing age in a flock of sheep.
