At 3 months old, 77,4% of the animals had a complete preputial release and at 4 months all showed a released prepuce. Theres was no goat with spermatozoa in the ejaculate at the age of 3 months, although at 4 months 23.1% of them ejaculated live spermatozoa. At 7 months, mean sperm motility is 70.0 ± 12,9%, with a range of 55-90%. Testicular size increase just before live spermatozoa could be found in the ejaculate, and had a higher positive correlation with body weight (r=0,92) than with age (r=0,84). On the other hand, sperm motility had higher correlation with age (r=0,5526) than with body weight (r=0,45) or scrotal circumference (r=0,39). For Saanen goats under intensive management in tropical condition, the separation between male and female kids must be done at 3 months of age to avoid undesirable pregnancy. Saanen bucks can be allowed to beed at a moderate frequency at the age at of 7 monsths.
