Problems associated with the cotton insect pests in Brazil are mentioned. The menace of a probable íntroduction of the "b o l l weevil". Anthonomus grandis Boh eman , into Brazil is stressed. The author also presents the biology of the weevil. its economic importance in the USA and alI sort of problems American cotton growers are dealing with since the Introdution o f t h e "boll weevil" into the USA in 1892. The geographic distribution of the "boll weevil" in the world is presented in a figure along with a suggested route to Brazil. The author warns against the situation and suggests measures that should be ta ken to avoid or delay the ntroduction of the "boll weevi 1" in to Brazil.Abordam-se os problemas causados pelas pragas no cultivo do Brasil e seu possível agravamento pela iminente ameaça do "boll weevil", Anthomus grandis Boheman, de ser introduzido no Brasil. |
