Abstract: Anti-HEV antibodies were detected in animals from abattoir and in farms from northeast Brazil. Our results suggest that HEV is highly disseminated in the swine population and might present a great risk to animal handlers and for consumption of raw or undercooked meat and meat products in northeast Brazil. Resumo: Anticorpos anti-HEV foram detectados em animais de matadouro e em fazendas do nordeste do Brasil. Nossos resultados sugerem que o HEV é altamente disseminado na população suína e pode apresentar um grande risco para os manipuladores de animais e para o consumo de carne crua ou mal cozida e produtos de carne no nordeste do Brasil. |
