Este trabalho foi realizado na Fazenda Nhumirim, sub-região da Nhecolândia, Pantanal, durante o mês de fevereiro/2008, pico do calor na região. Utilizaram-se seis cavalos da raça Pantaneira com o objetivo de avaliar as características de tolerância ao calor. Foram analisados parâmetros de frequência cardíaca (FC), frequência respiratória (FR), temperatura retal (TR), temperatura superficial da pele e índice de tolerância ao calor (ITC). No período estudado a temperatura ambiental variou de
29.0 a 40.0°C e a média para umidade relativa foi de 63.9%. Os valores médios dos parâmetros fisiológicos obtidos na sombra e no sol foram respectivamente de 43,6 e 40,9 bpm para FC; 33,3 e 37,3 mpm para FR; 35,5 e 37,8 ºC TP e 37,8 e 38,1 para TR. O ITC médio foi de 9,7 indicando alta tolerância ao calor. Todos os parâmetros ficaram dentro da faixa de normalidade encontrada na literatura, com exceção da frequência respiratória que necessita ser melhor caracterizada para a raça pois esta pode ser mais elevada em ambientes quentes e úmidos como o Pantanal. |

Diffuse pollution of agricultural areas has seriously compromised the quality of water resources. Aroundthe world, peatlands are environments located on the slope lower third, which receive all the runoff andpollutants carried by agricultural areas. We evaluate the behavior of pesticides in peatlands as a naturaltool to reduction nonpoint pollution from no-till system. This study was conducted in two steps in apeatland (6 ha) subdivided into three transects. The first step, it was performed a pesticides monitoringfrom agricultural areas (no-till system). On second step, the pesticide lambda cyhalothrin was applied onexperimental plots. The water sampling was performed with the aid of monitoring wells (0?30, 30?60 and60?90 cm depth), and the removed made with a vacuum pump. Soil sampling was performed introducedPVC pipe diameter of 50 mm at the same depth that water samples. To the first step, the results wereas follow: To soil sample, a total of 52 detections were obtained, which are shown in order of relevancefor atrazine (32%) chlorpyrifos (27%) lambda-cyhalothrin (19%), fluazifop-p-butyl (11.5%) and lactofen(9%). As for the water samples, 32 results (detections) were performing, atrazine (37%) chlorpyrifos (32%)lambda-cyhalothrin (12.5%) and the fluazifop-p-butyl pesticides (9%) and lactofen (9%) of equal impor-tance. Spatially transect 1 was significantly different from transect 3 for all pesticides studied. The secondstep showed a significant reduction in the concentration of the pesticide lambda cyhalothrin over timeand increasing soil depth. The highest concentration in the samples was at a depth of 0?30 cm, wherethe organic carbon content was higher.
