O presente trabalho foi conduzido com o objetivo de avaliar os efeitos da aplicacao de N, P e K no solo, sobre a producao, qualidade dos frutos e estado nutricional do maracujazeiro amarelo (Passiflora edulis f. flavicarpa). O experimento foi instalado na Estacao Experimental Agronomica da Faculdade de Agronomia da UFRGS, em Guaiba, RS, em solo Lateritico Bruno Avermelhado Distrofico, com acidez baixa e niveis de fetilidade de medio a alto. As doses de nutrientes por planta foram N (0g; 300 g e 600 g); P (0g; 150 g e 300g) e K (0 g; 200g e 400 g), utilizadas na forma de sulfato de amonio (N), superfosfato simples (P) e cloreto de potassio (K), combinados em oito tratamentos. O periodo de colheita estendeu-se de marco a agosto/82. O numero e peso dos frutos por hectare variaram de 76.903 a 109.306 frutos, e de 6,1 t a 9,9 t, respectivamente; o peso medio dos frutos variou de 86,0 g a 97,6 g. Nao houve influencia da adubacao sobre a producao e qualidade dos frutos; entretanto, os teores de macro e micronutrientes no tecido foliar mostraram-se satisfatorios, e os frutos produzidos foram de boa qualidade. |

Although tropical forests harbour most of the terrestrial carbon and biological diversity on Earth they continue to be deforested or degraded at high rates. In Amazonia, the largest tropical forest on Earth, a sixth of the remaining natural forests is formally dedicated to timber extraction through selective logging. Reconciling timber extraction with the provision of other ecosystem services (ES) remains a major challenge for forest managers and policy makers. This study applies a spatial optimisation of logging in Amazonian production forests to analyse potential trade-offs between timber extraction and recovery, carbon storage, and biodiversity conservation. Current logging regulations with unique cutting cycles result in sub-optimal ES-use efficiency. Long-term timber provision would require the adoption of a land-sharing strategy that involves extensive low-intensity logging, although high transport and road-building costs might make this approach economically unattractive. By contrast, retention of carbon and biodiversity would be enhanced by a land-sparing strategy restricting high-intensive logging to designated areas such as the outer fringes of the region. Depending on management goals and societal demands, either choice will substantially in uence the future of Amazonian forests. Overall, our results highlight the need for reevaluation of current logging regulations and regional cooperation among Amazonian countries to enhance coherent and trans-boundary forest management.
