Foram utilizadas 339 mensurações de perímetro escrotal (PE) de 30 cordeiros para estimar os parâmetros para predição do PE nas funções Logística (L); Brody(B); Gompertz(G) e Richards(R), utilizando o procedimento de regressão não linear (SAS, 1990). As funções L, G e B ajustaram de forma similar o PE quando se consideraram a soma dos quadrados dos resídeos (SQR) e o coeficiente de determinação (R2). Entretanto, a função R apresentou a maior SQR, menor R2 e maiores dificuldades computacionais. Os parâmetros A e k para a função L mostraram-se, inicialmente, adequados para ajustar o PE nas idades consideradas. Os parâmetros das funções G, B e R apresentaram-se menos coerentes do ponto de vista biológico. As funções G e B superestimaram o valor de A e a função R o subestimou. Com base na menor SQR, maior R2 e menor número de iterações, bem como, considerando o melhor ajustamento para PE a função L pode ser usada para explicar, de forma preliminar, o desenvolvimento testicular do PE com o aumento da idade.. Abstract: Three hundred and thirty nine measurements from the scrotal circumference (SC) of 30 lambs were used to estimate parameters to predict SC through Logistic (L); Brody B); Gompertz(G) and Richards(R) functions, utilizing a Non-Linear regression procedure (SAS, 1990). The L , G and B functions fitted SC in the same manner when evaluated by Residual Sum Square (RSS) and coefficient of determination (R2). On the other hand, the R function was the one which showed the highest RSS, the lowest R2 and more computational task. The A and k parameters from L function are initially suitable to fit SC on the ages studied. Whereas the parameters from G, B and R functions revealed results less coherent from biologic point of view. The functions G and B overestimated the value of A and the R function underestimated it.
