In plant breeding, correlations between the statistics of stability and adaptability of popcorn cultivars are not yet well understood. Therefore, the objectives of the present experiment was to investigate the correlations between r2di and bi from Eberhart and Russell, xi from Wricke, Sð1Þi, Sð2Þi and Sð3Þi from Huehn, Pi from Lin and Binns and the rank-sum from Kang, and indicate the most reliable method for selecting popcorn cultivars. These statistics were estimated by data of crop yield from 19 Brazilian genotypes under 21 environments and popping expansion under 16 environments. The xi,Sð1Þi, Sð2Þi, Sð3Þi and r2di were positively and significantly correlated indicating that just one in these five statistics is sufficient for selecting stable genotypes although they were not correlated with the means of crop yield and popping expansion. The bi was negatively and significantly S(1)i rank) and Index 2 (crop yield and popping expansion + Wi) indicating that superior popcorn genotypes are also stable. Finally, both Pi and the rank-sum are useful statistics in breeding programmes where crop yield, popping expansion and stability are essential traits for selecting genotypes. |

Foi avaliada a producao de tres variedades do fungo patogeno de acaros, Hirsutella thompsonii em 4 meios semisolidos (arroz, arroz-sacarose-peptona, arroz-sacarose-farinha de soja, e aveia), nao encontrando-se diferencas significativas entre meios de cultura. Hirsutella thomposnii var. synnematosa (iolado H t R = ARSEFF 255) apresentou a maior producao de conidios em todos os meios; a producao maxima foi obtida no meio arroz-sacarose-farinha de soja (19,13 x 107 conidios/g). Nao foram encontradas diferencas significativas entre H. thompsonii var. thompsonii(isolado H t T1 = ARSEFF 2012) e H. thompsonii var. vinacea (isolado do H t NC = ARSEF 254). Nos ensaios de compatibilidade com fungicidas o oxicloreto de cobre impediu a conidiogenese de todos os isolados. A producao de conidios dos isolados H t1 H t NC foi menos afetada pelo enxofre, nao havendo diferencas entre os mesmos. O crescimento micelial de todos os isolados foi reduzido, mas nao inibido totalmente. |
