Sugarcane bagasse (fine and coarse) was treated with 0, 2, 4 and 6% NaOh and was steam pressured in autoclave at 1,2 and 3kg/sq. cm pressure for 30 minutes. Highly significant difference was observed in chemical composition and 'in vitro' dry matter digestibility of sugarcane bagasse to forms of bagasse i. e. fine and coarse. As the level of alkali and pressure increased, there was significant decrease in NDF, ADF, cellulose and hemicellulose and significanrt increase 'in vitro' dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) of the bagasse. Alkali and steam pressure treatment to sugarcane bagasse had beneficial complementary effect in improving its nutritive value. |
