The correlation between yield losses on common bean-plants (cv. Carioca) infected by Phaeoisariopsis griseola and the reduction of leaf area due to the disease was studied in the field with natural disease occurrence. Plants were weekly sampled to evaluate disease severity and leaf area. Different disease levels were obtained with the application of chlorothalonil + thiophanate methyl. The frequency of application varied from 0 to 7 times. Losses caused by angular leaf spot varied from 14% (treatment T1 - application of fungicide at 3% disease severitiy) to 42% (treatment T4 - without fungicide application). The angular leaf spot reduce the leaf area index in more than six times. |
