The wood basic specific gravity, at DBH level of 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 years old Eucalyptus saligna Smith; 3, 4, 5 and 7 years old E. grandis Hill ex-Maiden, and 7, 8 years old E.yrophylla S.T.Blake plantations stablished with Rio Claro (SP) seeds, was studied in relation with the wood basic specific gravity of 3 and 5 years old E.saligna and 2, 5 and 6 years old E.grandis plantations stablished with Coff's Harbour, New South Wales, Australia, seeds. The plantations were located in Mogi-Guacu (Sao Paulo State), latitude 22o11'S longitude 47o07'W altitude 580m. For the plantations species E.saligna, E.grandis and E.urophylla, stablished with Rio Claro seeds, the wood basic specific gravity plantation were similar for the ages studied. The E.saligna and E.grandis stablished with Coff'sHarbour provenance seeds, had a lower wood specific gravity when compared with the Rio Claro plantations with the same age. The wood basic specific variation between trees, independently of species and ages, is high and it is most important than the wood specific gravity variations between plantations at the same locality. There is no significant effect of the annual wood volume increment/area on the wood specific plantation. The Rio Claro seed plantations had the lower annual wood volume increment/area when compared with Coff's Harbour seed plantations (Rio Claro plantation annual volume increment between 10 to 30 steres/ha/year, Coff'sHarbour plantations between 30 to 46 steres/ha/year).
