Resumo: Devido à gomose-dos-citros, ocorre a diversificação dos porta-enxertos que pode promover a resiliência em relação à doença. O porta-enxerto impacta claramente os índices de estimativa de produtividade para o citrus, indiretamente pelo maior crescimento de plantas e na redução de morte de indivíduos pela doença. O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar variáveis de crescimento vegetativo de limeira ácida ‘Tahiti’ sobre porta-enxertos cítricos no município de Guarantã do Norte, bioma amazônico. O experimento foi implantado em dezembro de 2016, na fazenda experimental do IFMT, Campus de Guarantã do Norte, MT. Os tratamentos foram 14 porta-enxertos, num delineamento experimental de blocos ao acaso em quatro repetições e cinco plantas na parcela, com os porta-enxertos: limoeiros ‘Cravo Santa Cruz’ e ‘Cravo CNPMF - 003’ (LCR-003), citrumelo ‘Swingle’, tangerineira ‘Sunki Tropical’ (TSKTR), citrandarins ‘San Diego’ e citrandarin ‘Indio’, HTR – 069, TSKC x TRFD - 003, TSKC x TRFD - 006, TSKC x CTSW - 028, TSKC x CTSW - 041, TSKC x (LCR x TR) – 059, LVK x LCR – 038, LRF (LCR x TR) – 005. No período de três a cinco anos de idade do plantio à campo as variáveis avaliadas foram: altura da planta, diâmetro do tronco do porta-enxerto, diâmetro do tronco do enxerto, relação de compatibilidade porta-enxerto/enxerto, diâmetro da copa, volume da copa e índice de vigor vegetativo, as quais serão realizadas até o final de dez anos de pesquisa, sendo que neste período não foi realizado nenhuma poda. Todas as combinações copa/porta-enxerto apresentaram compatibilidade de enxertia e crescimento vegetativo das copas. Os porta-enxertos citrumelo ‘Swingle’, citrandarin ‘Indio’ e ‘San Diego’, limoeiro ‘Cravo Santa Cruz’ e ‘Cravo CNPMF - 003’ apresentaram as maiores alturas de plantas, e diâmetros de enxerto e de porta-enxerto, enquanto os menores valores para estas variáveis foram encontrados nos híbridos TSKC x (LCR x TR) – 059, HTR – 069, TSKC x TRFD – 006. Também, o diâmetro da copa, volume da copa e índice de vigor vegetativo foram maiores no citrandarin ‘Indio’, limoeiros ‘Cravo Santa Cruz’ e Cravo CNPMF - 003’. Essas características nos híbridos TSKC x (LCR x TR) – 059 HTR – 069, TSKC x TRFD – 006, LVK x LCR – 038 foram os menores valores, caracterizando um crescimento de plantas menor. Since 2016, the fall armyworm (FAW) Spodoptera frugiperda has spread over extensive areas of the tropics and subtropics, imperiling food security, economic progress and the livelihoods of millions of cereal farmers. Although FAW has received long-standing scientific attention in its home range in the Americas, chemical inputs feature prominently in its mitigation and biological control uptake is globally lagging. Here, building upon a quantitative review of the global literature, we methodically dissect FAW biological control science. Of the known entomopathogens (46), parasitoids (304) and predators (215) of FAW, approx. 40% have been subject to laboratory- or field -level scrutiny. Laboratory -level performance has partially been assessed for 14-18% of the above invertebrate taxa. Yet, organismal, geographic, methodological and thematic biases hamper efforts to relate in -field biodiversity to actual ecosystem service delivery. Often, single -guild 'snapshot' surveys are preferred over comprehensive bio-inventories or population dynamics appraisals, trophic interactions are wrongly inferred from co -occurrence, standard pest infestation metrics are lacking and natural enemy censuses are performed arbitrarily. Diurnal biota receive inordinate attention, while egg and pupal predation - the main biotic sources of mortality - are routinely overlooked. Multiple microbial and invertebrate biota are investigated with a view towards mass -rearing and augmentative release, but the basis for agent selection is often unclear. Lastly, conservation biological control receives marginal attention and cross -disciplinary engagement with the agroecology domain is lagging. We lay out several steps, including standardized methodologies, smart use of biodemographic toolkits, networked field trials and a fortification of its ecological underpinnings, to sharpen the science of (FAW) biological control and urge further momentum in its global implementation.
