An analysis was made of the erythrocyte diameters of normal males of sheep and goat and of two suspected cases of interspecific hybrids between these two species. One of the suspected animals was morphologically much different from either of the species. The analysis showed that the suspected animals belonged to the goat group as the diameter of their erythrocytes was identical with those of the normal goats and much smaller than that of normal sheep. Such phenotypic deviations of some animals may be due to genetic aberrations within the goat species. |
