There has been growing interest in symbiotic systems during recent years, and particulary in mycorrhizal associations because of the important repercussions they can have on plant production. An increasing number of researchers in Europe are involved in work on mycorrhizae and considerable advances have been made in this field. This development in mycorrhiza research promted the idea of regularly holding European Symposia on Mycorrhizae (ESM) and, seeing the very different areas of research covered in Europe, of organising each meeting around a well-defined theme depeding on the host country and the frequency of the symposia. |
