The opportunity to determine a few geotechnical characteristics of samp[les taken from B horizons of Oxisol pedons thoroughly studied by soil scientist seemed to the authors to be a valid exercise. The plan of study included the use of new testing techniques and the engineering soil classification system developd in Brazil by Nogami and Villibor called MCT (miniature compacted tropical) classification. |

ABSTRACT - Sixty-four Landrace pigs (32 barrows and 32 females) were used in an experiment to evaluate 0, 2,4 and 6% levels of commercial swine blood meal in swine dieta during growing-finishing period. The results of average daily gain during the whole period (25-95kg) were 693. 709, 714 and 705 grama, to the levels from 0% to 6% respectively, and the differences among them were not significant (P > 0.05). The average feed intake (Y = 2.156 + 0.038 X) and the feed/gain ratio (Y = 3.0733 + 0.0489 X) increased (P < 0.05) when the level of blood meal in the diet increased from 0% to 6%. It was concluded that the blood meal used in this experiment was not suitable to replace at any level the protein supplied by the soybean meal.
