Mango (Mangifera indica L.) is an important tropical crop adapted to various soil types and climate conditions. One of the main guiding principles for the amount of fertilizer to be applied to the plants consists of replacing nutrients remoued by haruesting as well as quantities immobilized in the different parts of trees, such as roots, trunk, branches, leaues and frui: Considering fruit production, which can reach 50 t ha-1 , quantities of nutrients remoued by fruit are uery high. The nutrients remoued in greates/quantities by mango trees are potassium, nitrogen and calcium. Chemical analysis of the soil and leaf are essential techniques in diagnosing the mango tree's nutritional state. They allow fertilizer application according to lhe demands of the plant at appropriate doses and during appropriate seasons, from planting to fruit production. This becomes particularly importa-a for mango crops located in semi-arid tropical regions such as Brazil, where commercial orchards depend on regular. fertilization to maintain production ouer the years. |
