This bulletin describes the three systems of soil classification most widely used in the tropics and provides tables which allow correlation of soils of tropical countries with soil series of Hawaii. In these tables Hawaiian soils are classified according to the U.S., the French, and the FAO/UNESCO soil classification schemes. The basic purpose of these soil correlations is to provide a mechanism through which the agricultural experience developed in Hawaii over more than 70 years of experimentation can be extended to countries with similar soil conditions. |
