It is know that many plants live in symbiosis with microorganisms that can be found on their interior, the endophytes. Environment and tissue type are modulating factors of this community, in which most of these microorganisms produce important antimicrobial molecules and they may be powerful biocontrol agents in agriculture. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the community of Endophytic fungi from Eremanthus erythropappus in anthropogenic and natural areas (with human interaction, natural habitat and planned planting) of Minas Gerais State, Brazil, through cultivation-based approach and verify their antimicrobial activity against phytopathogenic fungal and pathogenic bacteria. The endophytic fungi isolated were identified by sequencing of the ITS region and subjected an in vitro antagonism test. The antagonisms that show antibiosis were submitted to tests on split plates to verify the volatile compound production. In the pairing testes, the endophytic fungi of the genera Cryptosporiopsis, Diaporthe, Xylaria, Paraconiothyrium and Camarosporium presented antibiosis against phytopathogenic fungi by releasing compounds in the medium. To our knowledge, this paper is the first report on the isolation of twelve genera fungi in E. erythropappus besides verifying their antagonist capacity, which opens the way for discovery of bioactive substances produced by endophytic fungi that inhibit pathogens. |

Abstract - Nineteen goats and 18 sheep, ali with histories of recent Corynebacterium pseudotubercu!osis abscesses, were skin tested with 3 reagents - a crude antigen of fornalin-killed £ pseudotuberculosis bacterial cells, jurified protein derivative of Mycobacteriun avium (PPD-A) and PPD-B (Mycobacterium bovis). Eighteen goats (95%) and 8 sheep (57%) had positive skin reactions to the specific 2 pseudotuberculosis bacteriai antigen. The failure of one goat to react was attributed to anergy. 5km testing with a specific antigen may be usefui as a diagnos tia method for caseous lymphadenitis in goats. Reactions to PPD-A and PPD-B were variable. Serum was coliected simultaneousiy for determination of titer via Lhe synergistic hemolysis inhibition (sul) test which measures antibodies to the exotoxin of 2 pseudotubercuiosis. 411 goats and 13 of 14 sheep had serologia titers greater than or equal to 1:16. The SHI test may be reliable serologia assay for caseous iymphadenitis in goats and deserves further testing-in both goats and sheep. Resposta de testes epidérmicos a três diferentes antígenos em cabras e ovelhas naturalmente infectadas com Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis. Foram examinados com 3 reagentes de pele, 19 caprinos e 18 ovinos, todos com historia recente de abscessos com C. pseudotuberculosis. Foi usado um antigeno cru de formalin, celulas bacterianas de C. pseudotuberculosis morto, um derivado de proteina purificado de Mycobacterium avium(PPD-A) e PPD-B(Mycobacterium bovis). Dezoito caprinos (95%) e 8 ovinos (57%) tinham reacoes de pele positivo para o especifico antigeno bacteriano C. pseudotuberculosis. A falta de um caprino nao reagir foi atribuida a diminuicao da reatividade para o especifico antigeno. Teste de pele com especifico antigeno pode ser util para um metodo de diagnosticoo contra linfadenite caseosa em caprinos. Reacoes para PPD-A e PPD-B foram variaveis. Para determinar o titulo pelo teste de inibicao da hemolise sinergica (SHI) test o qual mede anticorpos contra a exotoxina do C. pseudotuberculosis era coletado soro simultaneamente. Todos caprinos e 13 de 14 ovinos tinham titulos sorologicos maior ou igual para 1:16. O SHI test pode ser um ensaio seguro para detectar linfadenite caseosa em caprinos; e merece fazer mais testes em caprinos e ovinos.
