"Cerrado" vegetation was studied in an area where frequent fires occur, at Itirapina, SP, Brazil (22o08'S, 47o47'W). The phytosociological study was carried out using the quadrat method, with a total sample area of 5200 m2, divided in thirteen 400m2 plots. All individuals whose basal stem perimeter were equal to or greater than 15 cm were measured and identified. The "cerrado" studied shows quite low diversity, compared to vegetation protected from fire action in neighboring areas. Only 44 species, grouped in 24 families, where found. Species, and even important families in neighboring areas, were not present in the burned area. This suggests they may have been eliminated by fire. |

ABSTRACT - Integrated systems have been encouraged by public policies in Brazil (ABC Plan, low-carbon agriculture) since the early 2010s. However, systems including forestry in their arrangement, are naturally more complex, as trees exert a direct influence on the whole system’s productivity. Goal of this work was to evaluate forage production potential and nutritive value of Brachiaria cultivars under integrated crop-livestock (ICL) and integrated crop-livestockforestry (ICLF) systems, in their initial phase, just after grass establishment. Experimental design wasrandomized block with split-plots and two replications. Treatment on plots consisted of systems (ICL and ICLF), the subplot, the cultivars of Brachiaria sp. (BRS Ipyporã, BRS Paiaguás, BRS Piatã and Ruziziensis), the sub-subplot, post-cut residue height (15 and 20 cm), and, the sub-subsubplot, seasons of the year (autumn, winter, spring and summer). Results show that shading after one year after grass establishing under integrated systems does not affect forage production and leaf crude protein content of Brachiaria cultivars. BRS Piatã produces more biomass than the other cultivars, with good leaf crude protein content. For Brachiaria cultivars, residue height at 15 cm produces greater biomass than at 20 cm. |
