Gastrointestinal nematode parasitosis is one of the main problems of small ruminant production systems. This problem is usually dealt with by anthelmintic administration which, sooner or later, will lead to the rise of anthelmintic resistant nematode populations. It is known that anthelmintic resistance in these populations has a genetic basis, and the phenotypic trait is associated with the increase in frequency, through selection, of resistance associated genetic mutations. |
