ABSTRACT - In recent years, integrated systems have stood out for their diversification and efficient and sustainable use of agricultural land. However, it’s necessary to know how forage species respond to the shading of these systems. The objective of this work was to evaluate the forage production potential and nutritive value of Panicum maximum cultivars for use in integrated crop-livestock (ICL) and integrated crop-livestock-forest (ICLF) systems, in the initial phase after establishment. A randomized block design with split-plots and two replications was used. The treatment of the plot consisted of systems (ICL and ICLF), the subplot, the Panicum maximum cultivars (BRS Quênia, BRS Tamani and Massai), the subsubplot, post-cut residue height (30 and 40 cm), and, the sub-subsubplot, seasons of the year (autumn, winter, spring and summer). Shading after one year of grass establishing in integrated systems does not affect the forage production and leaf crude protein content of P. maximum cultivars. The BRS Quênia and Massai cultivars have high production of total dry biomass. In summer, soil coverage by forage is greater than in other seasons, and cultivars at 30 cm residue height produce more total dry biomass than at 40 cm. The cultivars have better leaf crude protein content during spring. |

O experimento foi realizado na Faculdade de Veterinaria da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, em Porto Alegre, no periodo de 12 de marco de 1981 a 01 de marco de 1982. Procedeu-se a avaliacao da producao de semen em dois grupos de quatro carneiros da raca Corriedale, submetidos a tratamentos distintos, a saber: Grupo A (tratado) - mantido em regime diario de 8 horas de luz x 16 horas de escuridao e a temperatura de 19,3 +- 4,20o.C; Grupo T (testemunha) - mantido em regime natural de luz e temperatura. Durante o experimento, os dois grupos foram submetidos ao mesmo regime alimentar, constituido de pastagem nativa, feno de alfafa (1 kg/animal/dia) e aveia em grao (0,8 kg/animal/dia). O grupo mantido no regime especial de luminosidade e temperatura apresentou producao de semen superior ao grupo testemunha, mostrando diferenca estatistica (P<0.05) para as seguintes caracteristicas: volume, concentracao espermatica, motilidade, vitalidade e anormalidades espermaticas. A concentracao de frutose seminal nao diferiu entre os grupos, enquanto maior concentracao de acido citrico do plasma seminal foi encontrada no grupo T (P<0,05). A maioria das caracteristicas do semen apresentou diferenca estatistica entre as estacoes do ano (P<0,05), sendo verificados efeitos estacionais mais marcantes no grupo testemunha. |
