The Brazil nut (Bertholletia excelsa H.B.K.) is native from Amazon region; it contains the methionine-rich 2S albumin, encoded by the BE2S1 gene with expression highly regulated during seed development. Studies have suggested bZIP regulatory proteins similar to the Opaque-2 (O2) from maize possibly regulating the BE2S1 gene expression. Therefore, in this work we aimed to isolate cDNA sequences coding for bZIP regulatory proteins of Brazil nut seeds by RT-PCR assays. |
