Through many years taxocomy was not an attractive topic of the research in biological sciences. Then new methods were applicated in systematics (comp. e g. HEYWOOD 1971): Light and electron microscopy (taxonomy of the microcharacters e. g. in pollen and spores of plants), analysis of chemical compounds in living organisms (chemotaxonomy), application of mathematical methods (numerical taxonomy=NT). Taxonomy was again a subject of interest. Also manu papers and books were filled with NT, first of all, with the mathematics of classification (comp. e.g. SOKAL et. 1963, LEUSCHNER 1974). But identification in respect of is mathematics was more or less neglected. Thus, today for instance a lack exists in the mathematics of taxonomic keys (TKs) as the most employed means of identification in practice. Therefore we have developed the mathematical theory of taxonomic keys (MTTK), according to the sentence: Nothing is more practicable than a good theory. In the following we represent the MTTK in a short and restrictive survey. |
