Mango (Mangifera indica L.) rightly claimed as fruit par exellence, still holds the premier status among the commer fruits grown in India. Unifortunately, this tree in all its phases of developments suffers from the ravagesof various diseases and arthropod pest. Greatest damage to this crop is, however, de to mango-hoppers (Idiocerus species) and giant mealy bug (Drosicha mangiferae G.). These pests can now be easily controlled by certain potent insecticides of hydrocarbon and phosphatic groups. It is lately that yet another serious malady known as 'malformation' has come into prominence and is posing serious threat to the successful mango cultivation. |
