Citrus fruit are grown all over India and commercially in seven States. Citrus growing once was a flourishing industry but dieback diseases has reduced acreage and production. Dieback causes death or decline of trees, and is associated with various causes and symptoms. Diseases caused by fungi, bacteria, viruses and prokaryotic organisms are the chief contributors to the dieback complex in association with edaphic factors, pests and cultural factors. Several viruslike disorders have also been recorded. Emphasis has been placed on certification and good cultural management, to extend the economic life of citrus orchards. |
