The objetive of the study was to determine effect of P levels added to a P-deficient soil on growth, yield and nutrient accumulation in the common bean. The cultivars used were Carioca, CNF 10 and CNF 4856, and P treatments applied were 0, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 175 and 200 mg P kg(-1) of soil. Plants were harvested at 17, 31, 60 and 80 days after planting and dry weights of tops and roots and grain yields were measured. P treatments significantly affected growth and yield parameters, but the magnitude of the response differed between cultivars. Under glasshouse conditions, maximum grain yield was obtained with 125 to 150 mg P kg(-1) of soil depending on the cultivar. Uptake of P in roots and tops increased with P fertilization, but differed in amount from cultivar to cultivar. Accumulation of N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe and Mn was increased with P fertilization, but Zn and Cu were reduced. Results related to distribution and concentration of N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Zn, Fe, Mn and Cu in different parts are presented. |
