This paper presents and discusses the Precision Agriculture Technology (PA): Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Yield Monitors, Variable Rate Technologies (VRT) and others spatial management techno/ogies for rationalization of the agricultural praductian systems. Although, PA utilization started with grain yield crops, main/y due to the extension of the occupied area, the fundaments should be applied to others crops. Actual!y, studies have been developed with several species such as cotton, sugar cane, coffee, tomato and fruits. The yield monitor is a technology already in use, building maps that show the yield variability in each point of the cultivated area, allowing the management of each zone ar indicating directions for studies of the factors affecting the low yields. The VRT for limestone, gypsum and fertilizers (P and K) is already used and could be considered the main PA technology in Brazil, but questions remain about VRT for nitrogen fertilizer, herbicides and insecticides. Several equipments are available in the market, but due to the high cost, their use has been limited to the commercial applicators. Due to the immediate benefits, to reduce overlapping and cuts in energy use, the controlled traffic farming with GPS auta-guidance will be intensified. The large-scale cultivated area of many Brazilian farms may favor the adoption of the GPS guidance and the use of PA to automate record keeping, employees supervision and quality control. Actually, PA adoption may grow rapidly in areas cultivated with com and soybean and higher values crops, such as sugBI cane and citrus, states with higher land values and regions with a strong agric:Jtt:re base. Also, strong public agriculture research organizations will help Brazil to develop the PA technologies use.
