The main feature of reproduction in sheep, goats and South American camelids are reviewed, and differences between camelids and the other 2 species are highlighted. Sheep and goats are seasonal breeders while camelids are essentially non-seasonal. Camelids are induced ovulators, which contrasts with the spontaneous ovulation and regular oestrous cycles in sheep and goats during their breeding seasons. |
