Several factors of variation of goat milk lipoprotein lipase (LPL) activity were studied. LPL activity was higher at the end than at the beginning of milking; it increased steadily between the 2nd and the 30th week postpartum, sharply decreased between the 30th and the 37th week and seemed to be stable from one lactation ta the following one, and for the same lactation stage. Milk LPL activity was markedly reduced in 48 hours fasted goats as compared ta fed or refed animaIs. Individual variations were important. The data did not show a systernatic difference between morning and evening milk LPL activity. The measure of milk LPL activity variations could contribute ta studies on « spontaneous » Iipolysis in milk and on mammary metabolism or milk secretion mechanisms. |
