In an experiment varying stocking rate and lambing time, the lenght of gestation was recorded in a flock of 378 ewes over a three year period. In the extreme Mediterranean environment in which this work was carried out the withholding of supplementary feed can result in severe nutritional stress to autumn lambing ewes that are being depastured at a high stocking rate. |
