Abstract: For 207 Muzaffarnagri, 19 Dorset X Muzaffarnagri, and 8 Suffolk X Muzaffarnagri ewes, the interval to 1st postpartum oestrus averaged 168.6, 127.7 and 154.9 days resp., and the service period 202.3, 139.8 and 212.1 days. The difference in service period between the Muzaffarnagri and the Dorset crossbreds was significant. For 88, 61 and 58 Muzaffarnagris lambing in winter, summer and the rainy season resp., the interval to 1st postpartum oestrus averaged 174.6, 134.2 and 195.5 days, and the service period 206.9, 162.8 and 239.2 days. The oestrous interval differed significantly between winter and summer, and the service period between summer and the rainy season. |
