Bacteriological methods are frequently used to diagnose bovine vibriosis in heifers that have either been test mated with bulls or exposed to infection in experiments. The main sites of infection with Vibrio fetus (Venerealis) are the cervix (Adler, 1975) and the anterior vagina (Vandeplassche et al., 1963). Techniques for the collection of samples of cervical and vaginal mucus for bacteriological examination have been described. |
