Chitosan films cast from different precursor concentrations solution were investigated as potential edible coatings on fruit. All films were inhomogeneous with intrinsic porosity, featuring a "mountain-and-valley" structure. Gain of mass by water and phosphate buffer sorption were measured, showing a high affinity towards water, dure to the presence of hydrophilic groups in exponentially. Weak adherence was also observed as chitosan content increases in the film. |
