RESUMO - O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar o efeito da escolha da metodologia de avaliação genética, modelos lineares ou de limiar, sobre a seleção de animais Nelore para a característica de conformação frigorífica ao desmame e ao sobreano. Foram utilizados para as avaliações 25.848 e 8.193 dados de escores de conformação frigorífica obtidos à desmama e ao sobreano, respectivamente. Para se fazerem inferências a respeito dos valores genéticos dos animais, estimar a correlação de Spearman das médias a posteriori dos valores genéticos entre as diferentes análises realizadas e obter a proporção de animais em comum entre os 20% maiores valores genéticos para ambas as características foram consideradas duas metodologias, a análise Bayesiana utilizando modelo linear e a análise Bayesiana utilizando modelo de limiar. As correlações de Spearman entre os valores genéticos aditivos diretos e aditivos maternos obtidos pelas análises lineares e não lineares foram, respectivamente, 0,98 e 0,96, para a conformação frigorífica à desmama, e, 0,99 e 1,00, para a conformação frigorífica ao sobreano. Já, a porcentagem de animais em comum dentre os 20% maiores valores genéticos aditivos diretos e genéticos aditivos maternos, obtidos por meio das análises, foram de 80,70 e 75,30, para a conformação frigorífica à desmama, e, 94,90 e 97,80, para a conformação frigorífica ao sobreano. ABSTRACT - This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of the choice of methodology for genetic evaluation, linear and threshold models, on the selection of slaughter conformation at weaning and at yearling age in Nellore cattle. A total of 25,848 and 8,193 records of slaughter conformation traits at weaning and at yearling age were used in the analyses. Linear model under Bayesian approach and the Bayesian threshold model were used to obtain estimates of the breeding values for slaughter conformation at weaning and slaughter conformation at yearling age. Spearman correlation between breeding values for slaughter conformation at weaning and slaughter conformation at yearling age, as well as the percentage of animals in common among the 20% higher breeding values for these traits were calculated. The Spearman correlations between breeding values for direct additive genetic effect and maternal additive genetic effect estimated by the two different analyses were 0.98 and 0.96 for slaughter conformation at weaning age, and 0.99 and 1.00 for slaughter conformation at yearling age, respectively. Furthermore, the percentage of animals in common among the 20% higher direct additive genetic effect and maternal additive genetic effect were 80.70 and 75.30 for the slaughter conformation at weaning age, and 94.90 and 97.80 for slaughter conformation at yearling age.
