This work reports a g-C3N4:Nb2O5 heterostructure for effective photocatalytic degradation of Bisphenol A (BPA) under visible light. The heterojunction composites were prepared using thermal polymerization and hydrothermal methods, demonstrating the effective separation of photogenerated charge carriers and stimulating the generation of reactive oxygen species. Characterization demonstrated the successful formation of a heterostructure, with Nb2O5 nanoparticles uniformly dispersed on g-C3N4 sheets. Photocatalytic tests revealed a significant enhancement in BPA degradation, achieving 99% removal under optimal conditions (pH 3, 250 mg L-1 catalyst, and visible light). The study also identified superoxide radicals and photogenerated holes as the dominant reactive species. The heterostructure exhibited notable photocatalytic and structural stability across multiple degradation cycles, suggesting its potential for eco-friendly water treatment applications. |
