Abstracts: Data collected during 1966-70 at a government bacon factory farm were studied. For 1003 Yorkshire piglets produced by 51 sows in 122 litters sired by 15 males , birth weight averaged 1.16 kg. For 799 piglets in 115 litters, 8-wk weaning weight averaged 8.53 kg. Litter size averaged 8.22 at birth and 6.95 at 8 wk. Parity had significant effects on birth weight and on litter size at birth and at weaning. |
