Abstract: One adult female from each of the 4 breed groups (Sirohi, Beetal x Sirohi halfbred goat; Malpura, Rambouillet x Malpura halfbred sheep) and of similar age was used in this study. The average distance travelled by sheep and goats indicated that goats travel more than sheep (14.3 km vs 10.02 km) and purebred indigenous breeds travel more than crossbreds. The distance travelled per day and physical environment in terms of (THSI) Temperate Humidity Sunshine Index, had a negative correlation both for sheep and goats, and the correlation value was 0.82 and 0.17, respectively, which was significant (P0.05) only in sheep. This indicated that goats are better adapted to hot environment than sheep as reflected from the distance travelled per day |
