Over a 2-yr period, birth weight was recorded in 232 kids. For Jamnapari, Beetal, Barbari, Black Bengal (BB), Jamnapari X Barbari, Jamnapari X BB, Beetal X Barbari, and Barbari X BB goats it averaged 2.97, 2.76, 1.84, 0.98, 2.35, 2.10, 2.48 and 1.56 kg resp. The effects of breed, season of birth, type of birth (single vs. twin) and sex were highly significant. |
