Chlamydial infection was successfully reproduced in 6 pregnant goats with the chlamydial agent isolated from spontaneous cases. Clinically it featured pyrexia, leukocytosis, neutrophilia, abortion and weak-born kids. The pathoanatomical changes in fetuses and fetal membrane were similar to spontaneous cases in sheep. The possibilities of tissue tropism rather than host specificity have been discussed. This paper is intende the tissue tropism to gain insight into the epidemiology of chamydiae-induced disease. Further, the obsevation of McCauley and Tieken (1968) of the possibility of the same organism as the causative agent for epizootic bovine abortion, enzootic aborrtion in ewes and chlamydial abortions in goats cannot be overlooked. |
