A decoquinate treatments for 30 an 75 days from weaning improved growth rates of young female goats before first mating, even if clinical signs of coccidiosis had not appeared in the flock in many years. There results confirm the zootechnical interest of decoquinate, already observed in young female goats and lambs, notably its positive effect on growth rates, Furthermore, these results show that a 75-day treatment improved growth rates more than did a short treatment of 30 days. But most of all, the highlight that the longer treatment milk performance of young goats in first lactation when the shorter treatment did not have apparent repercussions on milk yield. |
