This study aimed to evaluate the impact of 0, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of sugarcane straw, kept on the ground, on the infestation of some major sugarcane pests, trying to determine the amount of straw that could be used in the industry, still preserving soil quality. Pests evaluated were: root froghopper; leaf spittlebug; stem borers; giant borer; snout beetle and termites. Initial results showed no statistical difference in pest infestations and indicate that from the pest infestation perspective, straw produced by sugarcane could be used in the industry. Although, these results are still preliminary and further evaluations are required. |
