We determined the apparent digestibility of dry matter and organic matter in murumuru cake (Astrocaryum murumuru vr. murumuru Mart.), a by-product of oil seed agribusiness. Metabolic testing was conducted with 20 sheep, at Embrapa Eastern Amazon, Belém, Pará (1º25?S and 48º26?W). Mombasa grass was used (Panicum maximum). The experimental design was completely randomized design with four replications and five treatments: Treatment A (Control) = 100% forage; Treatment B = 90% forage + 10% pie; Treatment C = 80% forage + 20% pie; Treatment D = 60% forage + 40% pie, and Treatment E = 40% forage + 60% pie. A lower apparent digestibility of dry matter was found in animals of treatment with 40% (60.26%) murumuru replacement, followed by treatments with 20%, 60%, 10% and 0%, averaging 62.98%, 66.68%, 70.24% and 71.78%, respectively. As for the apparent digestibility of organic matter, treatments did not differ with values 63.41%, 63.62%, 51.38%, 49.19% and 59.32% to 0%, 10%, 20%, 40% and 60% pie replacement. Levels up to 20% replacement enable the use of this by-product,as an alternative food. |
