Genotype x environment interaction effect on post-weaning performance and carcass features of purebred and crossbreed cattle raised in the South of Brazil Average daily gain from weaning to yearling (ADG) and yearling weight (YW) of 98 Angus, Hereford, Caracu and Nellore cattle and their crosses were analyzed. The animals were created in two environments, and one group was grazing in improved native pasture and the rest in natural pasture. The environment influenced the ADG and the YW, and the best features averages belonged to crossbreeding products between Bos taurus and Bos indicus. The use of Nellore bull on Angus cows was responsible for increments (P<0,05) from 42,9% in ADG and 1,88% in YW. The crossbreedings are an alternative to improve post-weaning features of animals reared in conditions of this study. |
