Given the existence of microarray data obtained from cattle exposed to the tick Riphicephalus (Boophilus) microplus (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/geo), this study used a co-expression based analysis in search for new genes that may be involved in the host-parasite resistance mechanism. This approach is based on the assumption that co-expressed genes may be involved in the same biological pathway, with similar or related function. Two bovine microarray data sets (Affymetrix platform) were included in this study. Raw data were processed using the Affy package developed for the R programm. The background was corrected by RMA and normalization made by the quantile method. |
