Abstract: No evidence was found that Toxoplasma oocyst formation occurs in sheep, lambs, crows or pigeons. There was evidence suggesting that sporulated oocysts may pass through the alimentary canals of sheep and lambs without excysting and that such oocysts may still be viable and excyst on reaching the alimentary canal of another animal. Infection of pregnant ewes by T. gondii oocysts can be just as harmful to the foetus as infection by T. gondii tissue cysts. |
