Abstract: Studies on the reproductive behaviour, especially synchronization of oestrus are reported in a herd of Sarda sheep maintained in Milan. Cronolone® vaginal pessaries were used and the first trial was started in the autumn of 1969. The observations were repeated in yearlings and sheep were treated with vaginal pessaries and with successive injections of Prolan A (PMS, Bayer) or Gonestrin A (Pituitary extract, Veterin.). From the autumn of 1969 till the winter of 1972 negative lambing results were obtained in yearlings 3.2% pregnancies. In ewes, singles (50.0%) and twin births (31.6%) were obtained, with a total of 81.6% conceptions by synchronization in 60 ewes of two or more pregnancies. Zusammenfassung: Brunstsynchronisierung bei Sarda-Schafen. An einer Herde von Sarda-Schafen, die in Mailand stationiert war, wurden Untersuchungen über die Fortpflanzung mit besonderer Berücksichtigung der Brunstsynchronisierung durchgeführt. Im Herbst 1969 begannen die ersten Versuche mit gestagen-imprägnierten (Cronolone®) Vaginaltampons. Später wurden diese Versuche mit Jährlingen und Auen wiederholt. Nach der Entfernung des Tampons erhielten diese noch zusätzlich Gonadotropine (Prolan A oder Gonestrin A). Die Versuche vom Herbst 1969 bis zum Winter 1971/72 verliefen bei den Jährlingen negativ, es wurden nur 3,2% der Tiere trächtig. Hingegen erreichte man bei 60 Auen nach der Zyklussynchronisierung mit je zwei oder mehr Geburten pro Tier eine Konzeptionsrate von 81,6%. Die Zwillingsfrquenz betrug 31,6%. Résumé: Synchronisation de l'oestre chez des moutons sardes. On a procédé à des examens sur la reproduction, dans un troupeau de moutons sardes gardé à Milan, en considérant tout spécialement la synchronisation de l'oestre. Les premières expériences ont commencé en automne 1969, par l'application de pessaires vaginaux imprégnés de gestagnènes (Cronolone®). Puis on a répété ces essais sur des animaux d'une année et des brebis. Après élimination du pessaire, ces dernières ont encore reçu des gonadotropines (Prolan A ou Gonestrine A). Les expériences de septembre 1969 jusqu'en hiver 1971/72 se sont révélées négatives pour les animaux de l'année, avec environ 3,2% seulement d'animaux portants. Par contre, chez les brebis, après synchronisation de l'oestre, on a obtenu le résultat de deux à plusieurs naissances par animal, soit un pourcentage de conception de 81,6, la fréquence des naissances de jumeaux étant de 31,6%. Resumen: Sincronización estral en ovejas sardas. En un rebaño de ovejas sardas, estacionado en Milán, se efectuaron estudios sobre la reproducción considerándose de manera especial la sincronización del estro. En el otoño de 1969 comenzaron los primeros ensayos con pesarios vaginales impregnados con gestágenos (Cronolone®). Más adelante se reanudaron estos ensayos con añojas y ovejas. Después de retirar los pesarios, estos animales recibieron gonadotropinas (Prolan A o Gonestrina A). Los ensayos que duraron desde el otoño 1969 hasta el invierno 1971/72 resultaron negativos en las añojas, gestando solo el 3,2% de las mismas. Sin embargo, en 60 ovejas se logró, después de la sincronización del ciclo con dos o más partos por animal, una tasa de concepción del 81,6%. La frecuencia gemelar alcanzó el 31,6%.
