Abstract: Concentration of oxytocin, prostaglandin (PG) F and 6-keto-PGF1, the stable metabolite of prostacyclin (PGI2), were estimated in various reproductive tissues of both non-pregnant and pregnant goats seventeen days after oestrus. The corpus luteum appeared to be the major source of oxytocin, and during early pregnancy luteal oxytocin concentrations fell significantly (P<0.001). However, the highest concentrations of both PGF and 6-keto-PGF1? were found in tissues taken during early pregnancy, i.e. in the endometrium for PGF and in both the endometrium and myometrium for 6-keto-PGF1alfa. |
