Evidence is presented to suggest that anomalies in the prediction system arise when lower than average temperatures occur in June, the month when snail propagation generally accurs in the South-West of Scotland and that the assessment period should perhaps be adjusted to a later 4-week period when below average temperature are recorded. A later "wet day" assessment period is proposed in the North of Scotland, and this proposition is examined and relate to the epidemiology of the disease. |
