The Pseudomonas genus includes over 300 bacterial species widely found in soil, water, and plants. Many are endophytic rhizobacteria that promote plant growth by fixing nitrogen, solubilizing nutrients, and producing siderophores and phytohormones. They also protect plants against pathogens through systemic resistance and antimicrobial compounds. Although several Pseudomonas-based bioformulations are commercially available, some species are pathogenic to humans or plants. Therefore, biotechnological research focusing on the safe use of microbial metabolites represents a promising alternative for sustainable agricultural productivity. |
