The aim of this handbook is to provide suitable subject matter for such training. A realistic curriculum has been developed over the last five years by the Biological Control Program ofthe International Institute ofTropical Agricul ture working with national program staff in the class room and in the field. The manual is a practical guide to working at all levels of a biological control campaign against the cassava green mite. Topics range from the basic biology of the pest to methods for evaluating pest damage to procedures for requesting beneficial biological control agents and importing and releasing exotic natu ral enemies. This manual does not replace the compre hensive training offered by the Biological Control Pro gram; rather, it should serve as a general reference guide for those workers—be they technicians or scientists— who have already had some experience or training in working on this pest. |
